The IBF R&D Project has been awarded the Certificate of Compliance by the Green Valley Food and Health Programme
Biomedycyna Polska S.A., an active business entity with a mission of perpetual contribution to the availability of effective solutions used in treatment and prevention of major epidemiological challenges, has prioritized the R&D works of Instytut Biofarmacji Inc. — a member of the corporate group led by Biomedycyna Polska S.A. — on development of innovative technologies for the isolation of bioactive substances derived from milk and whey, mainly lactoferrin.
Lactoferrin occurs naturally in humans; its immunomodulating, antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral functions have been well understood. In the face of current epidemiological challenges, awareness of the benefits of lactoferrin use in antiviral prophylaxis is growing rapidly, also in relation to SARS and COVID-19 (Jianshe Lang et al., 2011; Chang et al. 2020).
The objectives of latest R&D Project by Instytut Biofarmacji Inc. can be summarized as the development of technology for lactoferrin production and its use in designing of individualized functional food recipes. On March 3, 2020 the Project has been awarded the Certificate of Compliance by the Green Valley Food and Health Programme, issued by DOZEDO Inc. Activities planned within the Project has been recognized as satisfying the main objective of the Programme, therefore increasing the competitiveness of the regional economy in the area of food and health, as well as improving the quality of life of Lower Silesians.
“Lower Silesia. The Green Valley of food and health.” is a Programme developed by the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław and the Marshal’s Office of Lower Silesian Region. The Programme aims at shared use of intellectual and technological resources and organizational experience by the parties as well as institutional cooperation between science, business and administration in Lower Silesia Voivodship.

By the decision of the Monitoring Board of the Strategic Projects Portfolio of the Ministry of Investment and Development, the initiative belongs now to strategic governmental projects in Poland.
